DIETS THAT HAVE POTENTIAL TO STIMULATE THE HYPOTHALAMIC-PITUITARY-ADRENAL (HPA) AXIS IN SPRAGUE DAWLEY RATS

چکیده

The pituitary gland is the master which regulates body hormones. From corticotrophs of anterior gland, adrenocorticotrophic hormone (ACTH) secreted and influences corticosterone production in rodents via hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal axis (HPA axis). ACTH are frequently used as a hormonal marker stress level. Disturbance were observed many diseases especially Addison’s disease, Cushing’s syndrome, metabolic syndrome. Our objective to observe diet produces most least Sprague Dawley rat’s physiology. Method: Thirty-five rats grouped into five groups (n=7) given different types diets (control, high-fat, high-protein, high-sugar, high-starch) with tap water supplied drinking ad libitum. By end eight weeks, blood was collected, serum separated. individual components from extracted, purified, identified, quantified using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) photodiode array (PDA) analysis method. Result: analytical studies revealed high -sugar registered highest It also that high-fat high-sugar group presented peak for corticosterone. Conclusion: Consumption weeks suggested induce physiologic evidenced by HPA activation.

The hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis in habitual smokers.

Nicotine is a strong activator of the hypothalamus pituitary adrenal (HPA) axis. Smoking of only two cigarettes consistently activates the HPA axis of habitual smokers. However, while being a habitual smoker only induces small changes of basal HPA axis activity, smoking induces an attenuated responsiveness of the HPA axis to psychological stress, but not to injection of corticotropin releasing ...

The Role of the Endocannabinoids in Suppression of the Hypothalamic- pituitary-adrenal Axis Activity by Doxepin

Objective(s) The mechanism(s) by which antidepressants regulate the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis remain elusive. The endocannabinoid system (eCBs) which exhibits antidepressant potential, appears to regulate the HPA axis activity. Therefore, we aimed to investigate the role of the eCBs in the action of doxepin including its effect on the HPA axis. Materials and Methods Male Wist...

Predictive modeling of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis response to acute and chronic stress.

Detailed dynamics of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis is complex, depending on the individual metabolic load of an organism, its current status (healthy/ill, circadian phase (day/night), ultradian phase) and environmental impact. Therefore, it is difficult to compare the HPA axis activity between different individuals or draw unequivocal conclusions about the overall status of the...

Introduction to the Hypothalamo- Pituitary-adrenal (hpa) Axis

OBJECTIVES: • Identify appropriate hypothalamic factors that control the secretion of each of the anterior pituitary hormones, and describe their route of transport from the hypothalamus to the anterior pituitary. • Contrast the anterior and posterior pituitary lobes with respect to cell types, vascular supply, development, and innervation (hypothalamic). • Diagram the short-loop and long-loop ...

Spinal and supraspinal analgesic effects of Nimodipine : The role of Hypothalamo-Pituitary-Adrenal(HPA) axis .

Nimodipine, an L-type calcium channel blocker, can induce analgesia. However, it is not clear that this analgesic effect is at the level of spinal or supraspinal pain pathway. In addition, it has been reported that the analgesic effect of nifedipine, another L-type calcium channel blocker is related to the HPA axis, but there is no report indicating the role of this axis in the analgesic eff...
